Naps Kent Group Theatre Day
Sunday 1st May 2011, weather sunny but windy, (a great improvement to last years torrential rain and gales).
Help Colin to pack plants into the car, just about enough room to fit me in as well. Say good bye to our two dogs, Bella and Lilly and head off to Woldingham, Surrey.
Jenny and Geoffrey King welcomed us with open arms, as they were the Kent Groups hosts today for our “Auricula Theatre” Day. Mike Brown had done a fantastic job in making our new Theatre structure, so many thanks to him for his hard work and that he has made it so we can move it around from place to place.
People and plants start to arrive, Colin, Dave and Mike find the ideal place for the theatre out of the wind, and with Jenny’s help who was trying to manoeuvre her cart around the patio to put the for sale plants on.
The Theatre looked spectacular, the colours were breath taking, Jenny and Geoffrey’s neighbours and friends started to arrive, along with other prospective members, and they could not believe how beautiful the plants were, and the group were lucky to have a ‘few’ spare plants for them to buy for themselves, some common, plus a few more rare varieties.
Jenny had put on a brilliant lunch for all, especially the quiches (which she kindly donated all produce and must have spent many hours in the kitchen), and afterwards there was plenty of tea and cakes ( some of which were donated by ladies of the Kent Group).
Everyone had a lovely day, people came from far and wide and hopefully went home with a bit more knowledge about Auriculas and also laden with a few more plants to worry about !!!!!!!.
Jenny had even arranged for the group, a special form of entertainment of watching “Derek” jumping in & out of the fishpond, splashing everyone and making them laugh, only then to be dragged off by Geoffrey to fight off his hypothermia by sitting in front of their Aga (“ Derek” was a Spaniel on holiday at Jenny’s)
On behalf of the Kent Group I would like to say a big thank you to Jenny and Geoffrey for their hospitality and giving us such a great day, and for anyone who couldn’t make it along you missed so much.
Again, thank you Jenny and Geoffrey.
